Gemini: Positive Detachment

(Written under Mars in Gemini).

 Subject: 

Dostoyevsky, (Gemini moon); Gemini. 

Abstract:

When we speak from a place of emotional challenges we speak to our moon sign energy. 

The real sign of challenges is the Herculean sign, Leo. If we look at the glyph (♌), we see a circle and a line, a head and a tail; mindfulness and libido/attachment. This glyph summarizes the human challenge of taming the beast/impulses. 

The circle is luna/Venus, the head, where mindfulness grows. So life's goal of mindfulness comes through the moon. 

The tail, or libido, is also Luna. It carries the karmic, instinctual side of our challenges. Another way of seeing it is as the umbilical cord, attachment to our negative karma, or, "Dark Mother." This is why the moon has an association with evil. 

So we see, the sign Leo is actually esoterically a lunar energy.

The sun speaks to our dark drives and instincts. The moon speaks to our emotional challenges. 

The sun is where mindfulness and heart begin to overcome our dark drives. The moon is where we are prodded by karma to develop mentally. 

Back to Dostoyevsky.

The virgin, another Mercury sign, taming the lion.

Gemini: Attachment, Detachment:

Dostoyevsky's above quote speaks to the challenge of Gemini overcome. 

The challenge of Gemini is chasing, thirsting after something unavailable. Think about the symbols associated with Gemini and Mercury, specifically the caduceus, the double helix spiral. It symbolizes life, continuity, and extension. Think of the snakes on the caduceus, and think of the ouroboros, snake eating it's tail. Think of Philosopher Alan Watts speaking about "The Game." Thirsting is bad in the sense that it wastes your libido and makes you homeless. Someone who's always searching off desire and pleasure is never stable. 

Every sign is a polarity in itself. In the case of Gemini I've just written about the negative pole. The positive pole is what Dostoyevsky is speaking to, stopping searching; standing alone; learning not to blow any direction the wind pulls you. This is priceless, because it takes you out of the arena and inside the auditorium. It gives you third-person perspective. 

Aquarius Eliphas Levi phrases it in a magical context:

Gemini, The Magician:

"To Master the forces of nature, one must first learn to obey them. The magician does not command the storm; he aligns his will with the law that governs it." 

---- in other words,

Dont fight the wind, align with the wind. Don't fight fate, align with fate. ----

Lastly, speaking of Magicians, let's recall the tarot card. What is its ruler? Mercury, Gemini.
